Region 3 Science and Engineering Fair Winners Announced
MONROE, La.-Erin McCown of West Ouachita
      High School and Matthew Howell of Calhoun Middle School were
      the top senior and junior winners at the Region 3 Science and
      Engineering Fair held in Fant-Ewing Coliseum March 22 at the
      University of Louisiana at Monroe.
      McCown received the Guide Corporation Senior Sweepstakes Award,
      the Senior Grand Prize Award in Biological Sciences, the Sigma
      Xi Senior Award and the United States Navy Senior Biological
      Award.
      Howell received the Junior Sweepstakes Award, the Junior Grand
      Prize Award in Applied Sciences, the Sigma Xi Junior Award and
      the United States Navy Junior Applied Sciences Award.
      First, second and third place winners in all categories are eligible
      for the state science fair scheduled to be held in April in Baton
      Rouge. Region 3 comprises Caldwell, East Carroll, Franklin, Madison,
      Morehouse, Ouachita, Richland, Tensas and West Carroll Parishes.
      Not all places were awarded in each discipline.

      Jessica Griffin, Richwood High,
      the Senior Grand Prize Award in Applied Sciences, the United
      States Navy Senior Award in Applied Sciences and the Speech,
      Language and Hearing Association Third Place Award.
      Ashlee Sisson, West Ouachita High, the Senior Grand Prize Award
      in Physical Sciences, the United States Navy Senior Award in
      Physical Sciences and the American Chemical Society Senior Award.
      Garrett Murray, Calhoun Middle School, the Junior Grand Prize
      Award in Physical Sciences and the United States Navy Junior
      Award in Physical Sciences.
      Moustafa Elsayed, Good Hope Middle School, the Junior Grand Prize
      Award in Biological Sciences, the Junior Award for Achievement
      in Hereditary Science and the United States Navy Junior Award
      in Biological Sciences.
      Shunitka Dunn and Desiree Fountain, Richwood High, the Senior
      Award for Achievement in Hereditary Science.
      Kaitlyn Mitchell, Good Hope Middle School, the American Chemical
      Society Junior Award.
      Vanessa Hayman, Delhi Charter School, the American Meteorological
      Society Senior Award.
      Rachel Corbit, Delhi Charter School, the American Meteorological
      Society Junior Award.
      Kristi Butler, Calhoun Middle School, the Speech, Language and
      Hearing Association First Place Award.
