History
A major in History prepares one for a wide range of degrees. Many of our majors go on to teach at the K-12 level, and some pursue their MA and Ph.D. with the goal of becoming college professors. History degrees, however, do not simply suit one to teach others. They are, for instance, a top degree for those entering law school. Others use them as vehicles to gain work in museums, archives, and libraries. Moreover, many businesses seek out our graduates.
History degrees are so desirable because of the widely applicable skills they provide. With the study of the past comes an enhanced understanding of the present, better preparing graduates to thrive in a diverse world with its share of conflict. Just as important, our majors complete the program with important skills in written and oral communication, critical thinking, and analysis. It is no surprise that those with degrees in History thrive in a variety of careers!

The Bachelor of Arts in History is designed to provide students with a broad range of knowledge that they can customize based on personal interest or in pursuit of career goals. Early in their career at 橙子视频, they will take two introductory courses in U.S. History and two more in World Civilizations. They will then select three U.S. courses, three non-U.S. courses, and two open electives from either area. Each student will also complete a HIST 3099: Historians Craft as a junior capstone course.
Each of our majors completes the program with additional applicable skills, taking courses in world languages, political science, geography, and communication.听听Finally, each student chooses a minor in a field they think will benefit them.

Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society allows students to interact like-minded peers while engaging in history-themed and service activities.
Students are eligible for scholarships open only to those with substantial hours in History.
Students can present the research during 橙子视频鈥檚 annual research symposium and in a variety of other venues across the state and nation.
