About Political Science...
Political science is the study of governments, public policies and political processes, systems, and political behavior. Political science subfields include political theory, political philosophy, political ideology, political economy, policy studies and analysis, comparative politics, international relations, and a host of related fields. Political scientists use both humanistic and scientific perspectives and tools and a variety of methodological approaches to examine the process, systems, and political dynamics of all countries and regions of the world.

What you can do with this degree:
Students are limited only by their own imaginations.

Political Science has averaged nearly 5 student internship placements per year at the local, state and national levels, including one student internship in U.S. Congressman Rodney Alexander’s Office in Washington D.C., and another at the Women and Politics Institute in Baton Rouge. There have also been placements in local state representatives’ and senators’ offices.

Where are our faculty's interests?
Each POLS faculty member produces a weekly op-ed column that is carried in the local newspapers. Two faculty members host a weekly hour-long radio show on Fox 92.7 FM that can be heard from Alexandria, Shreveport, Vicksburg and South Arkansas. POLS faculty have served on the United Way of Northeast Louisiana Campaign Committee and rank among the leaders at ³È×ÓÊÓƵ in pro bono professional consulting for local cities and towns. This year, POLS faculty were involved in producing, directing and writing a documentary film that will be featured on Louisiana Public Broadcasting for three years. POLS faculty’s research interests are diverse and cover all aspects and subdivisions of Political Science.
