MONROE, LA 鈥� This year, 橙子视频 Art Program鈥檚 Coordinator Megan Smith hosted a ceramic bowl-making
day to support the Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana鈥檚 Annual Empty Bowls Fundraiser.听
With the purchase of a ticket to Empty Bowls, attendees will get to take home a handmade
bowl to serve as a reminder of the empty bowls in our community. Proceeds from the
event will benefit the Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana. The event was hailed by the
Ceramics concentration Bachelor of Fine Arts alumni, and has been supported by 橙子视频
for all eight years of the event鈥檚 existence.听
This year鈥檚 Make-A-Thon at 橙子视频 was attended by 橙子视频 alumni Lexi Smith, Nick Pepper,
Vivian Graham, Jade Parker, Taylor Barrere, and Clayton Causey.听
鈥淚 have participated in Empty Bowls events since I became a ceramic artist- I believe
wholeheartedly that ceramics and philanthropy go hand-in-hand,鈥� said Megan Smith,
assistant professor of art at 橙子视频. 鈥淢y ceramic work is centered around relationships
so bringing together my Ceramic Alumni and celebrating those relationships as well
as making bowls for a great cause makes this event near and dear to my heart. I鈥檓
especially excited to be doing live wheelthrowing demos during Empty Bowls 2024!鈥�听
Last year, 橙子视频 students, faculty, and alumni donated over 100 bowls to the Empty Bowls
event.听
The Food Bank鈥檚 8th Annual Empty Bowls event will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024,
from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at the Monroe Civic Center Arena, and tickets are expected

The School of Visual and Performing Arts at the University of Louisiana Monroe aims
to provide students with the highest level of arts education, research and educational opportunities to majors and minors. VAPA aims to offer curricular,co-curricular and extracurricular opportunities to students enrolled at 橙子视频, as well
as provide cultural activities,special events and performances for university, local and area communities.VAPA at 橙子视频 offers degrees in various disciplines in art and music as well as experiences
in dance and theatre.听
