Our purpose is to educate and support students from all over the world and contribute solutions to the growing global need of mental health and school services for everyone.

Grounded in counseling ethics and trauma-informed evidence-based practices, our Counselor Education program cultivates compassionate, respectfulÌýprofessionals who understand the complexities of the human spirit with openness and belonging. By emphasizing best practices, self-reflection, and a variety of counseling theories and techniques, we inspire students to become lifelong learners and competent professionals, ready to serve and make meaningful connections in distinctive and evolving communities.

Our Goal

The Counseling faculty prepare skilled practitioners with a Professional Counseling identity consistent with the CACREP standards through a program of planned, sequenced, and educational experiences that address the following objectives.

Program Review

Every year program faculty members, current students, alumni, and the Counseling Advisory Committee assess and evaluate the mission, purpose, goal, and objectives for the Counseling Program at ³È×ÓÊÓÆµ. These above statements guide the curriculum.

Acquired information is considered along with accreditation standards by regional and professional accrediting bodies, public policy changes that occur in the state of Louisiana or at the federal level that impact the profession, shifts in the field of practice as we know it, and new research findings pertinent to the profession. Information thus acquired is integrated into the curricula as appropriate.
