Housing Application & Eligibility
When can I apply for housing?
After you have been admitted to ³È×ÓÊÓÆµ, you are eligible to apply for housing. Specific dates and applications are available in the left navigation menu, under Apply & Housing Processes.
What are the housing application fees?
The total cost is $500. The housing application payment breakdown is outlined below.
- At the time of application
- First-time Freshman/Transfer Students: $300 ($200 application fee + $100 prepayment)
- Continuing Students: $300 ($100 application fee + $200 prepayment)
- Before May 1
- All students: $200 additional prepayment
Only prepayments are refundable if canceled on or before May 1.
How do I pay housing application fees?
Payment is required to submit an application. All major credit cards are accepted.
Can I choose my residence hall?
Every effort is made to accommodate residence hall preferences as long as space is available.
Can I request a roommate?
Yes. Roommate requests may be made for the same sex/gender. Requests are honored based on availability, application date, and payment status.
When are housing assignments released?
Assignments begin in April and continue throughout the summer as space becomes available. Students must be admitted and have paid the required fees to receive an assignment.
Can I request a private room?
Yes. If space is available, private rooms are assigned at the end of the assignment period.
Am I required to live on campus?
All unmarried, full-time undergraduates are required to live on campus as long as space is available. Information on exemptions is available in the left navigation menu, under Apply & Housing Processes.
Is married or family housing available?
³È×ÓÊÓÆµ Residential Life does not provide married or family housing. Additional information is available in the left navigation menu, under Apply & Housing Processes.
Are meal plans required?
Residents are required to purchase a meal plan. Dining options and pricing are available in the left navigation menu, under Apply & Housing Processes.
Residence Hall Rooms & Amenities
What is included in my housing cost?
Rooms are fully furnished and include high-speed internet, cable television, air conditioning and/or ceiling fans, laundry access, computer labs, vending machines, and 24/7 emergency maintenance. All utilities and maintenance are included.
Are the rooms furnished?
Yes. Amenities, costs, and floor plans are available in the left navigation menu, under On-Campus Housing Locations.
What items are allowed or prohibited?
Refer to the list provided in the Guide to Residence Hall Living in the left navigation menu, under Living on Campus.
May I bring furniture from home?
Yes. Personal furniture may be brought, but university-provided furniture must remain in the room.
How do I request maintenance or repairs?
Follow the steps below based on the type of issue you are experiencing. Detailed procedures are available in the left navigation under Living on Campus.
Can I paint or alter my room?
No. Rooms may be decorated only using non-damaging methods.
Do residence halls have private bathrooms?
³È×ÓÊÓÆµ does not have community bathrooms. Bathroom configurations vary by building and include suite-style, private, and semi-private options.
Is cable television provided?
Yes. All rooms receive Boldyn cable service. View channel lineup and setup information.
Is smoking or vaping allowed?
No. ³È×ÓÊÓÆµ is a tobacco-free campus. Smoking or vaping is prohibited in residential buildings and within 25 feet of building entrances under Louisiana law.
Residential Life Policies & Procedures
Who are the Residential Life staff members?
Resident Assistants (RAs) and Hall Directors (HDs) support residents through community development, programming, and policy enforcement.
What should I do if I have a roommate conflict?
The following steps outline the process when roommates experience conflict:
- Step 1: Talk to your roommate. Be honest and let them know what is bothering you.
- Step 2: Ask the RA on your floor to help facilitate a mutually agreeable resolution. If necessary, the RA will create a roommate contract.
- Step 3: If the contract fails to rectify the situation, schedule a meeting with Residential Life's professional staff, who will assist you in finding a resolution.
How do I request a room change before move-in?
Submit a housing change request in . Requests are processed based on availability and submission date.
How do I request a room change after move-in?
Requests may be submitted beginning the Monday after move-in and are reviewed after the 14th class day.
What happens if I lose my room key?
Residential Life staff will initiate a lock change and issue new keys.
Is there a curfew?
No. Residents have 24-hour access using their student ID card.
What are the visitation policies?
Visitation is permitted in accordance with residence hall guidelines. Residents are responsible for guests at all times.
Are overnight guests permitted?
Yes. A $15 nightly fee applies, not to exceed three days per month. Guests must be 18 or older and of the same sex/gender.

USPS mail is delivered to student mailboxes. Oversized packages may require pickup at the campus post office.
UPS, FedEx, and DHL deliveries are received by the Residential Life main office. Students are notified by university email when packages are ready for pickup.
